For the first time in history, Bookmakers are backing Andy Murray as his odds continue to drift.
The world number one number and defending Wimbledon champion is seeded at the top of the draw, but his poor form and injury concerns have seen his odds continual drift over the past week.
Murray was favourite just seven days ago, but is now as big as 6/1 alongside Novak Djokovic – with Roger Federer the 9/4 favourite just ahead of old rival Rafa Nadal at 9/2.
“For the first time in years we will be minted if Murray comes through and wins this – it will feel very strange cheering him on,” said William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams.
“Strangely this year’s betting patterns look almost identical to 2007, when you were either in the Nadal camp or you were a Federer fan.”
