Bookmakers price up Invincibles

Going into November and three teams are undefeated in the Premier League, but will this result in another Premier League ‘Invincible’?

There have only ever been two Invincibles in English history – Preston back in 1889 and Arsenal in 2004.

Now, Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea are in contention to go the season unbeaten.

This is the third time more than two teams have remained unbeaten in their opening 10 matches of a top-flight season, after 1978-79 (Livepool, Everton and Nottingham Forest) and 1990-91 (Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs, Crystal Palace).

Ladbrokes have priced up the chances of each unbeaten side maintaining their record between now and close of play next May, and as things stand it’s City who are by far the most likely side to do so at 12/1.

Liverpool are next in the betting at 20/1 while Chelsea are 50/1 outsiders for an Invincible campaign.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Not one but three sides stand the chance of going all season unbeaten and as things stand it’s easy to see why Man City are priced so short.”
