Boxing Preview – Chris Eubank Jr v Arthur Abraham

Chris Eubank Jr (24-1) takes on Arthur Abraham (46-5) at Wembley Arena this Saturday night, live on ITV Box Office.

‘The Next Generation’ defends his IBO World super-middleweight title against the Armenian in London.

This fight doesn’t require much analysis as Eubank Jr wins this for one reason only – he only signs up to fight against opposition he can beat.

He ducked Gennady Golovkin, Billy Joe Saunders and Tommy Langford because he knows they all have the tools to beat him.

Instead, he chooses to fight against Gary O’Sullivan, Nick Blackwell and Renold Quinlan – opposition that will stand in front of him to be hit but can’t match him for speed.

As long as you are not fleet-footed or fast, then you have what it takes to be a Chris Eubank Jr opponent!

At the age of 37, going into his 52nd bout and 33rd title fight, ‘King Arthur’ is a spent force. His speed and workrate will not match Eubank’s, as the Brighton boxer’s management team would already very well know.

Eubank Jr. does not seem to have immense power at super-middleweight so I can’t foresee a stoppage win here, instead I expect him to win by unanimous decision.

I believe the two-weight World champion will retire following a defeat to Eubank but can look back proudly on an illustrious 14-year professional boxing career

Betting

William Hill have installed Eubank Junior as their 1/7 favourite to win against Abraham.

The defending champion is rated a 2/1 chance to KO Abraham and 4/6 to beat the German on points.

Abraham is rated a 5/1 chance to beat Eubank and 7/1 to win by KO.

“Incredibly, Eubank is the same price (1/7) to beat Abraham as Mayweather is to beat McGregor”, said William Hill spokesman Tony Kenny.

“Eubank has youth on his side and that should be enough to see him through against the wily old Arthur Abraham.”

William Hill make Eubank the 10/3 favourite to win the newly created Super Series.

Super Series Tournament Winner: 13/8 Callum Smith, 2/1 George Groves, 10/3 Chris Eubank Jr, 14/1 Jamie Cox, 16/1 Avni Yildrim, 16/1 Jurgen Braehmer, 25/1 Arthur Abraham, 25/1 Erik Skoglund, 25/1 Rob Brant
