Brilliant Enable still looking good for Arc three-peat

Superstar Enable is still on course for her an historic third successive Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe after a brilliant win in the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes.

The five-year old Filly held off Crystal Ocean to take the win at Ascot, and now she might not run until she tries to win a third Arc.

“I think the key thing is whether she goes to York or whether we do the other thing, just freshen her up, and she runs well fresh, and bring her up to the Arc without having taken any risks in going anywhere else,” said trainer John Gosden.

“We are incredibly lucky to have her, but you want to do everything right by her. There is always a weight expectation, but try living without it and that is a bit frustrating too.”

Gosden paid tribute to owner Prince Khalid Abdullah – who decided to continue running Enable in her fifth year.

“It’s all about Prince Khalid, who bred her and owns her,” he said.

“He said, ‘no, let her race at five’, and she is here winning an Eclipse and King George and aiming at an Arc.

“This is all down to him and it is very important to racing.”

Bookmakers keep Enable as firm favourite to take the win at the Arc.

Nicola McGeady of Ladbrokes said: “Now that the dust settled, Enable’s price has too at 11/10 for the Arc. Today though, punters have been latching onto both Crystal Ocean and Waldgeist.”
