Brits not expected to feature at BAFTAs

Bookmakers are not expecting any British success at the BAFTAs on Sunday evening with musical La La Land expected to pick up the major wins.

LA based musical La La Land is odds-on favourite to win best film with odds of 1/5, and the director Damien Chazelle is an even bigger odds-on rated at 1/10.

Emma Stone is expected to take the best actress title also for La La Land, indeed the only major award the film is not expected to win is for best actor.

Casey Affleck is at 1/5 to to beat out Ryan Gosling with his role in Manchester By The Sea.

William Hill believe that the only possible success could come in the best supporting Actor category with Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Dev Patel in contention. Taylor-Johnson is 11/4 for his role in Nocturnal Animals – for which he has already taken a Golden Globe for – whilst Patel is rated at 6/1 for his performance in Lion.

“A Brit win in the big six does not look likely, however, if there is one, it is likely to come in the form of Aaron Taylor-Johnson or Dev Patel in the Best Supporting Actor category,” said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly.
