Celtic are leading the chase for Welsh star Joe Allen this summer with Brendan Rodgers looking to seal a reunion with the midfielder.

Allen is one of a number of players who Stoke look like losing following their relegation from the Premier League.

The 28-year-old has little desire to play in the Championship again, and he is not short of options with a number of Premier League club hoping to take him back to the top-flight.

West Ham, Leicester, Newcastle, Everton and newly promoted Wolves are amongst the clubs looking at him.

However, sources have confirmed that Celtic are looking to seal a deal with Rodgers believing Allen – a player he signed for Liverpool having managed him at Swansea, would be ideal for his side.

Allen is also understood to be keen to link up with Rodgers, and is confident a deal can be hammered out.

Celtic are currently rated 12/1 to land Allen with BetVictor, who make West Ham and Newcastle favourites at 8/1.
