Champions League last 16 Wednesday Preview

Manchester United travel to Spain on Wednesday for the first-leg of their Champions League last 16 clash with Sevilla.

United go to the Sanchez Pizjuan as firm favourites but boss Jose Mourinho is taking the threat of the Spanish side serious.

“Sevilla have a good knockout mentality. They’re a club of cups, a team that enjoys the Copa del Rey and the Europa League. Now they have the chance to compete in the biggest competition of all,” he said.

Mourinho insists that nobody will be looking towards a final place until after this stage.

“I normally say that Champions League dreams start around the quarter finals. Not here, not the last 16. Now it still looks a long way to go. When the team reaches the last eight then even those who are not favourites realising that anything is possible,” he said.

“But for the moment our job is just to focus on a team who will provide very difficult opponents. This match, alone, doesn’t decide anything, but it is very important.”

The other game on Wednesday sees Ukrainian giants Shakhtar Donetsk host Roma, although the game is still not being played in their home city but in Metalist.
