Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund were unable to overturn their first-leg defeats as Juventus and Monaco progressed into the Champions League semi-finals.

Barca produced the biggest comeback in European history in the last round to come from 4-0 down against Paris Saint Germain – but this time things were much different.

Whilst the home side dominated possession – the Italian champions showed just why they are one of the best teams in Europe as they stood firm and with veteran goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon proving to be the nemesis of Lionel Messi yet again, with the Argentine still yet to score past the Italian legend.

After progressing into the last four – Juventus are now second favourites for the trophy, rated at 2/1.

In Monaco, the home side took a 3-2 lead into their home leg and they were in the driving seat just minutes into the match at the Stade Louis II as the brilliant Kylian Mbappe scored three-minutes, coolly slotting home.

It was 2-0 before half-time with Colombian ace Radamel Falcao powered home a head after a great cross from Thomas Lemar.

Dortmund pulled one back early in the second-half with Marco Reus hooking the ball home, but they could not close any further and Monaco claimed a third to seal the win with substitute Valerie Germain striking to send them into the last four – going through 6-3 on aggregate.

Monaco are seen as the outsiders of the four remaining teams to win the Champions League at 6/1.

Radamel Falcao has now scored 24 goals for Monaco this season.
