Champions League Tuesday Preview

The Champions League gets underway on Tuesday with Liverpool and Tottenham beginning their European quest.

The Reds, beaten finalists in May, open their campaign in Group C with a mouthwatering clash against Paris Saint Germain at Anfield.

Liverpool have been labelled favourites in some quarters, but boss Jurgen Klopp has been quick to play down those expectations – despite their outstanding start to the new Premier League season.

“People say, ‘You should win it this year because you reached the final last year’. But come on,” he said.

“We play in the two toughest competitions in the world, the Premier League and Champions League.

“That is what has brought us all together – but there is not one second that is easy.”

Spurs begin in Group B with a tough looking trip to Inter Milan – although neither have enjoyed great starts to their respective league campaigns.

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino admits they have little chance of challenging unless they recapture their form.

“I don’t think we’re realistic contenders in any single competition,” said Pochettino.

“That is my view if we show the same face we did against Watford and Liverpool, so difficult. If we show the face from some bits of Old Trafford, then maybe yes.”

Also in action on Tuesday are the likes of Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and FC Porto.

We run through every game including predictions from former England, Crystal Palace and Tottenham midfielder Andy Gray, our own Football Insider Graeme Bailey and BoyleSports’ Lawrence Lyons.
