Champions League Wednesday Preview

Barcelona entertain Liverpool in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final on Wednesday evening.

The Spaniards come into the game as narrow favourites to be crowned European champion’s ahead of their opponents Liverpool – who were last season’s beaten finalists, losing out to Real Madrid.

Jurgen Klopp is still looking to complete the Premier League-Champions League double, but he knows the odds are against them.

“You want to play Barcelona and, in the best way, you want to compete with them. I think we can do that, but we have to show it,” he said.

Barca boss Ernesto Valverde is full of praise for their opponents.

“They’re very strong, extraordinary up front, they press and play with a very high rhythm and pace. It’s very similar to the way that [Jurgen] Klopp played at Dortmund and he brought that to Liverpool.”
