Chelsea confident over Lewandowski – who wants Bayern exit

Chelsea are increasingly confident of landing Robert Lewandowski after the striker made it clear to Bayern Munich he wants to leave.

As we revealed at the start of the year, Chelsea are very interested in the brilliant Pole – but insisted they would only move if Lewandowski and Bayern were open to the idea, the Blues do not want to waste any time chasing an unlikely target.

The 29-year-old is now working with super agent Pini Zahavi – who is very close with Chelsea’s board, and they are set to use this relationship to iron out a deal.

Zahavi has told the German media: “Robert feels he needs a change and a new challenge in his career. The managers of Bayern know about it.”

Chelsea, who are looking to appoint Maurizio Sarri to replace Antonio Conte, are pushing ahead with their summer plans and Lewandowski is now key to that.

I understand that Lewandowski’s possible arrival does not automatically mean that Alvaro Morata will be pushed out the door, as they don’t want to lose too many of their big names this summer.

Real Madrid also remain keen on Lewandowski, but he is not top of their summer list of targets and it is believed the player is not willing to wait all summer to see if a deal to take him to the Spanish capital materialises.

Bookmakers certainly believe that Chelsea’s chances of landing Lewandowski are improving, and their odds have been cut 15/2 by PaddyPower.
