Chelsea considering keeper options

Chelsea are looking at goalkeeping options in the transfer market and are considering testing Leicester’s resolve over Kasper Schmeichel, amongst others including former keeper Petr Cech.

Chelsea are preparing to let Thibaut Courtois move to Real Madrid, as he has refused a new deal and only has one-year left on his contract.

Now The Blues are looking at their options to replace him. They had an interest in Roma’s Alisson, but he was quick to opt for Liverpool.

Leicester’s Kasper Schmeichel is on their radar, and their move for Liverpool’s Danny Ward for over £10million could help prise him away – although they are insisting he is not a replacement.

Former Chelsea number one Petr Cech is set to be surplus to requirements at Arsenal, meaning he is an option whilst Paris Saint German’s Alphonse Areola and Jasper Cillessen of Barcelona are also on their radar.

Bookmakers believe a Cech reunion is the most likely option at the moment.

Betway’s Alan Alger, said: “With Thibaut Courtois odds-on to move to Real Madrid, attentions have turned to who Chelsea will choose as his replacement in goal.

“Despite being 36, Petr Cech at 8/11 has emerged has the Blues’ chief target as Maurizio Sarri eyes bringing back the keeper who made over 300 appearances for Chelsea before moving to Arsenal in 2015.

“Cech is even-money to remain at the Gunners, while Leicester’s Kasper Schmeichel is another muted target and he’s 2/1 to move to Stamford Bridge, with a stay at Leicester the favourite at 4/6.

“We’ve also seen some money for Eden Hazard moving to Barcelona this morning, with the La Liga champions 14/1 from 20/1 to sign the Belgian. Real Madrid are still the 1/2 favourites to sign him.”
