Chelsea favourites to top table after opening weekend

The Premier League fixtures for the new season have been released and reigning champions Chelsea are being backed to carry on from the where they left off – on top of the table.

Chelsea will begin their title defence at Stamford Bridge, with Burnley the visitors.

Indeed last season’s top six are just 7/1 for them all to win. Runners-up Tottenham Hotspur travel to Newcastle, third place Manchester City are at newly promoted Brighton, Liverpool open at Watford, Arsenal entertain Leicester and Manchester United face West Ham United at Old Trafford.

The other clashes see Huddersfield travel to Crystal Palace for their Premier League debut, Everton host Stoke City and West Brom will welcome Bournemouth to The Hawthorns.

Newly promoted trio Newcastle, Brighton and Huddersfield are 3/1 to ALL lose and 150/1 to ALL win.

If you fancy a home side sweep on the opening weekend, that is 2000/1.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “We’re expecting the champions to pick up where they left off – especially after being gifted a home clash against Burnley.

“But with two of the three newly-promoted sides set to play Tottenham and Man City, it’s easy to see why we’re just 3/1 that Newcastle, Brighton and Huddersfield all lose their opening matches.”
