Chelsea are the most popular side when it comes to bets being placed on the outcome of next season’s Premier League, Bookmakers have revealed.
The defending champions have not had the greatest of pre-seasons after missing out on their top target in the shape of Romelu Lukaku but punters are latching onto them and they have seen the most interest.
The bookies can report that Spurs, despite finishing second last year, are less popular than six other sides, while Premier League newbies Huddersfield and Brighton make the top 10 in terms of outright bets placed.
West Brom remain the least popular by some distance to lift the trophy, with Bournemouth and Stoke fans also being pessimistic about their chances of winning the league.
Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “This table makes for interesting reading, with plenty confident Conte’s men can retain the title. But the standout side for us has to be Everton. Ronald Koeman has added some serious talent to his team and if our punters are right, the Toffees could be in for an exciting campaign.”
