Chelsea lifted the Premier League title on Sunday, and in beating Sunderland they became the first side to win 30 games in one season.
But despite winning the title with plenty to spare, and claiming the honour of winning 30 games – bookmakers are not making them favourites to retain the crown.
Instead Manchester City – who finished third – are the early favourites to lift the crown at 5/2 with Chelsea then coming at 11/4
Third favourites are Manchester United – who finished this season in sixth – at 3/1, whilst Tottenham are 8/1 to finish top-four.
Both Arsenal and Liverpool are rated outside the Champions League places at this early stage.
Liam Glynn, BoyleSports spokesperson said: “Despite Manchester City heading the betting to win the 2017/18 Premier League we are starting to see plenty of support come in for new champions Chelsea at 11/4.
“Our traders believe that Chelsea may well take over at the head of the betting as punters are already latching onto the newly crowned champions to retain the title come the end of next season.”
At the other end, Watford, Burnley and newly promoted Brighton are listed as the outsiders – all available at 1,000/1
