Chelsea odds-on for record Sandro deal

Chelsea are set to make Juventus full-back Alex Sandro the most expensive defender in history by paying some £60million and that will kick-off their spending for the summer which will seemingly go through the £250million barrier.

Antonio Conte is looking to bolster his title winning squad and Chelsea have sanctioned a huge outlay on a handful of new players.

Brazilian Sandro, who plays on the left, is ready to come in and will cost Chelsea a club record £60million breaking their previous £50million mark spent on Fernando Torres.

Chelsea sources believe Sandro and Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko will soon follow, with Chelsea paying just under £40million for the French midfielder.

Chelsea were battling with Manchester United for Bakayoko, but they are ready to send Nemanja Matic to Old Trafford which has seen the Red Devils back away with Jose Mourinho more than happy to be reunited with the Serb.

Sandro will not last long as Chelsea’s record signing, though, with Romelu Lukaku on his way from Everton for around £85milllion.

And Sandro’s tag of being the world’s most expensive defender may also be short-lived with Chelsea still pushing for Southampton’s Virgil van Dijk – which could easily break the £60million barrier.

Bookmakers believe the Sandro deal is getting close to being finalised and SkyBet list him at 1/10 to be joining Chelsea, whilst markets on Bakayoko have been suspended.
