Chelsea have seen their odds slashed for the Carabao Cup, but holders Manchester City remain odds-on to retain the trophy.
Chelsea set up an EFL Cup final showdown with City at Wembley after fending off Tottenham in their London Derby semi-final at Stamford Bridge.
Tottenham went into the semi-final with the upper hand having won the first-leg 1-0, but first half goals from Kante and Hazard put Chelsea in front in the tie. Fernando Llorente’s header in the 50th minute saw Tottenham draw level on aggregate and penalties ensue.
Maurizio Sarri’s men prevailed 4-2 on penalties and will go into the final 6/4 to overcome defending champions City, having shortened in from 5/1.
It was a different journey to the final for Manchester City whose 1-0 win over Burton Albion secured a 10-0 aggregate triumph over the two legs.
Pep Guardiola’s side have only ever been in the final once where they didn’t lift the trophy and see red hot odds of 1/2 to claim back to back wins in the League Cup.
Aoife Heffron, Spokesperson for BoyleSports commented: “There was a surge of interest for Chelsea to lift the EFL Cup for the first time since 2015 after the Blues reached their first final in four years in dramatic fashion. However, City’s telling odds of 1/2 suggest that they will be holding onto the cup for successive years.”
