Chelsea ready to pay big for Wilson

Chelsea are willing to make Callum Wilson the most expensive English player of all time this month.

The Blues are anxious to bolster their striking options, and are ready to move on from Alvaro Morata – who they are looking to facilitate an exit for this month.

Head coach Maurizio Sarri wants a new front-man, and they are closely looking at Wilson, along with the likes of Gonzalo Higuain and Edinson Cavani.

Chelsea are now ready to tempt Bournemouth with a deal that could be worth up to £70million including add-ons – which would make him the most expensive Englishman ever, surpassing Kyle Walker – who cost Manchester City just over £50million.

The Blues – who have already agreed a deal worth nearly £60million for American Christian Pulisic, who will arrive from Borussia Dortmund in the summer – want Wilson as they look to seal a top-four finish

Manchester United’s recent success, along with Arsenal good form under Unai Emery – has put pressure on Chelsea for their place in the top-four.

Sarri has already given the green light to pursue Wilson – who made his England debut in November, but they were unsure whether a deal could be done this month, but the deal could be too good for Bournemouth to turn down.

The Cherries have just spent £20million on Dominic Solanke from Liverpool and that is in part knowing that Wilson could be set to leave, becoming one of the most expensive Premier League players in history.

Bookmakers  believe there is a real chance he ends up at Stamford Bridge, with PaddyPower making Chelsea 6/5 to land him.
