The odds on holders Manchester City claiming a third successive Carabao Cup win, have been slashed after a favourable looking quarter-final draw.
City have been paired away to League One Oxford United, and they remain firm favourites not just to win that tie but to life the trophy once again.
Carabao Cup quarter-final draw
Oxford United v Manchester City
Manchester United v Colchester United
Aston Villa v Liverpool
Everton v Leicester City
City’s neighbours United were handed on paper an easier looking tie as they will host the lowest ranking team left in the competition in the shape of League Two Colchester Untied.
Aston Villa’s reward for beating rivals Wolves is a home clash with Liverpool – who scrapped through on penalties against Arsenal after playing out a ten-goal thriller.
The final clash is another all Premier League affair as high-flying Leicester City travel to Everton.
“Manchester City have not lost a game in the Carabao Cup since October 2016 and the betting suggests they will extend their run by winning this competition for a third straight year,” said Coral’s John Hill.
“Liverpool need the help of the FA when it comes to scheduling their last eight fixture with Aston Villa but they are second favourites in the betting, while Manchester United are next best as Ole looks to secure his first trophy as manager of the club,” added Hill.
