The third round of the Carabao Cup has thrown up a brilliant tie with Chelsea being drawn at Liverpool as the Premier League’s remaining clubs entered the competition.
Any side playing in Europe does not feature until the third round of the League Cup – which means Manchester City, Manchester United, Tottenham, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Burnley all entering now.
And two of those clash with Liverpool hosting Chelsea at Anfield.
Holders Manchester City – already favourites – face a trip to League One Oxford, whilst Manchester Uninted enterain Frank Lampard’s Derby County.
There are two London derbies with Arsenal taking on Brentford whilst Tottenham are due to entertain Watford – although because of continued delays to their new stadium, that tie will be played at Stadium MK in Milton Keynes.
League Two Macclesfield, the lowest ranked side left in the competition, are rewarded for their efforts with a trip to West Ham.
As a result of the draw Man City shorten to 4/1 favourites from 9/2 to retain the trophy ahead of rivals United on 6/1 as both Liverpool (8/1) and Chelsea (10/1) have seen their odds drift after being paired together.
