Could Vardy break his own record?

Jamie Vardy has now scored in eight successive Premier League games, but could he break his Premier League record.

The now retired England striker broke the league record in 2015 when he went 11-matches scoring in succession and he could be in line to do it again.

Having bagged 25 goals in 26 games under Brendan Rodgers, he is now 16/1 to break his own record.

But Rodgers does not believe his star strike is too bothered about the record.

“I think he just looks to the next game,” he said.

“For me, I’m not really bothered who scores as long as we win and play well, but Jamie is a real talisman and a fantastic striker and in that moment he has all the composure to score the penalty so he is very important for us.

“But Jamie is like ourselves, he is only worried about the next game.”

bet365’s Steve Freeth said: “Vardy has his own record in sight and while forthcoming fixtures against the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool may be off putting on paper, let’s remember he seems to thrive in front of goal against the Top 6 sides.”
