Courtois pushing for Real Madrid switch

Thibaut Courtois is pushing Chelsea to let him join Real Madrid this month.

The Belgian number one has less than 12-months left on his contract at Stamford Bridge and has made it clear he will not sign a new deal.

Courtois has two children living in Madrid, following his time with Atletico Madrid earlier in his career, and he is now hoping to return to the Spanish capital with Real.

Real have held talks but as yet no deal has been agreed, and now his agent Christophe Henrotay has called on the Chelsea board to sell.

Henrotay said: “I have been reading everywhere that Chelsea are saying it is up to Thibaut, but he has made it clear to the club that the best option for him is to move to Madrid.

“For him this is a big decision because he wants to be near his family, and there is an offer in place for Chelsea to accept.”

New boss Maurizio Sarri insists that he wants to here from the player himself rather than his agent.

“I am not interested in the agent. I want to hear Courtois,” he said.

“If Courtois will say to me the same, I have to speak with my player of course. I want only players who play with a very high level of motivation.”

Chelsea only have until Thursday to sign a replacement, but Courtois could join Real Madrid up until the end of the month as the Spanish window remains open until then.

And Bookmakers are convinced that a deal will happen as they price him at 1/8 to be at Real, but the same can’t be said for team-mate Eden Hazard.

Hazard, like Courtois, is keen to make the move to Real – who are also keen – but a deal does not appear likely and he is 11/4 to make the same switch.
