Daily Betting Brief with Betfred – Jan 10

We pick out some the day’s best bets with Betfred featuring horse racing, football and darts.

Racing

We have six meetings across the UK and Ireland today – and there’s no shortage of talking points.

The standout being Donnacha O’Brien, not long retired jockey for father Aidan O’Brien who needs no introduction, fielding his very first runners as a trainer at Dundalk this evening.

He runs Mythologic and Flower Garland for mother Anne-Marie in the 6.30 and 7.30 respectively – and they’re 5/1 and 11/4 shots at time of writing. Will he get off to the perfect start?

Also running today, over at Huntingdon, is Gary Moore’s Goshen in the 2.10.

He’s been incredibly impressive so far and is firmly expected to win this afternoon, but will be of major interest to antepost Cheltenham backers given the four-year-old is currently the 8/1 third favourite for the Triumph Hurdle.

If he wins today, and wins well, you can expect him to shorten in the betting.

Finally, we fancy the chances of Kim Bailey’s Imperial Aura, also in the 12.25 at Huntingdon.

Long gone is the 7/4 available last night, but this rapidly improving chaser is likely to prove better than his current mark of 136. He was tried over 3 miles last time out but didn’t quite get home behind the impressive winner Pym, who is now rated 152.

This looks an easier affair, and he should be suited by the 2m4 trip which he won at plenty of times as a hurdler. Kim Bailey is prolific at this track too and so this 4/5 shot looks to have an excellent chance.

Football

After last weekend’s FA Cup Third Round ties, the Premier League returns this evening.

Sheffield United host West Ham at Bramall Lane, and the Blades are currently a shade odds-on at 19/20 to take the three points, with West Ham 3/1 and the Draw 12/5.

Can the Hammers kick on from their impressive 4-0 win last time out against Bournemouth, and a 2-0 win in the FA Cup last weekend under new boss David Moyes? Or will Sheffield continue to prove particularly tough to beat, especially at home?

Darts

It’s quarter-final time in the men’s BDO World Darts Championship, and semi-final time for the women.

Outright favourite for the men’s game is Jim Williams, at 7/2, ahead of Paul Hogan at 9/2 and Scott Waites and Scott Mitchell at 5/1 – while it’s 6/1 bar.

Meanwhile in the women’s game, it’s Lisa Ashton the clear 5/4 favourite ahead of Mikuru Suzuki and Beau Greaves at 9/4, with Corinne Hammond the 16/1 rank outsider.
