Danny Ings set for January loan

Danny Ings will be allowed to move in January if he can’t force his way into their Liverpool first team in the coming months.

Jurgen Klopp remains a confirmed fan of the 25-year-old, who has been beset with injuries since his arrival as manager, but he is now back to full fitness.

Ings has been given until January to work his way back into Klopp’s plans, otherwise they will look at a loan.

Whilst a host of Championship clubs are looking at him, we understand Ings would not consider dropping down beyond the Premier League as he still maintains a World Cup ambition.

We understand that England boss Gareth Southgate – who gave Ings his debut as England Under-21 manager – has privately informed the player – who has one full cap to his name – that if he can score goals in the second half of the season at a Premier League club, he would put himself into contention.

Newcastle have long been interested in Ings, but we understand a host of Premier League clubs have made enquiries including their neighbours Everton.

We spoke to BetVictor’s Head of ante post Football Michael Triffitt, he told us: “Danny Ings has struggled with injury since a dream move from Burnley two years ago and the forward may well need to move on again to reignite his career elsewhere.

“Championship outfit Leeds have been strongly linked and are 4/1 favourites in our opening show. Southampton are 6/1 shots to lure him home with the Cherries 8/1. Newcastle United failed to add to their attacking options last summer and may well make a bid to get Ings on board. They are also 6/1 and with many more clubs likely to get involved in the chase this could develop into an intriguing market.”
