Danny Rose in United’s sights

Danny Rose remains firmly in Manchester United’s sights and their top target at left-back, despite checking on Celtic’s Kieran Tierney.

Rose is set to leave Tottenham this summer, and United have long been leading the chase to land him.

Spurs are happy to cash in on the England left-back as they are not willing to get anywhere near the likely wage packet at Old Trafford, similar to the situation that saw Kyle Walker depart for Mancester City last summer.

Spurs are demanding more than £50million for Rose, but United are looking at paying less and they have made it clear to Tottenham there are other options available to them – including Celtic’s Kieran Tierney.

Scottish star Tierney has been hugely impressive for Brendan Rodgers’s treble winning side, and his form has not gone unnoticed – indeed both United and Spurs have been checking on him, along with Chelsea, Everton, Crystal Palace and Bournemouth.

And whilst Tierney has impressed United and their scouts, sources have confirmed to me that Rose remains the priority.

United, who will be letting full-backs Luke Shaw and Matteo Darmian, hope to have a deal done for Rose before the World Cup finals this summer, mainly due to the shorter transfer window that has been adopted by the Premier League.

Bookmakers have long had United as favourites for Rose, and that remains the case with BetVictor listing them at 3/1.
