De Bruyne injury sees change in title odds

Manchester City have confirmed that midfielder star Kevin De Bruyne has suffered a knee injury, which is likely to keep him out for months rather than weeks.

Initial reaction in his homeland of Belgium suggest the injury will see De Bruyne missing for at least two months, but there is a chance it could be longer.

City have not confirmed the details of the injury or its length, but they will be confident that their squad will can cope without their best player.

However, Bookmakers and punters alike are not convinced that City will fare as well as their main rivals Liverpool.

For the first time this year, City’s title odds have lengthened as Liverpool’s are cut.

The Citizens are pushed out to 8/13 from 4/7 to lift the title and The Reds are into 3/1 from 7/2

Betway’s Alan Alger said: “Though the Manchester City squad is packed full of class, there’s no doubt that Kevin De Bruyne will be missed and news of a serious knee injury has impacted on the title race odds.

“We’ve nudged City out to 8/13 from 4/7 following the bad news for De Bruyne, while Liverpool fans’ hopes of a first Premier League grow stronger and they’re now 3/1 from 7/2 with the Belgian on the side-lines for the next couple of months at least.”
