Diore Lia should not be running in the Derby.

Quite simply it turns one of the most prestigious Flat races in the world in to a joke and that is bad for the sport.

Diore Lia is a 52-rated filly who has never won a race. Forget the fact that this is supposedly for charity for a moment.

And, that’s exactly what letting Diore Lia line-up against much faster, better horses is – unsafe.

Especially as it will be ridden by a jockey with no experience of Epsom who has only ridden one winner in her life, back in 2009.

The British Horse Racing Authority need to take a good hard look at their rulebook and realise that by allowing this sort of nonsense to take place it undermines British racing’s credibility.
