Douvan is now odds-on for the Tingle Creek at Sandown in December after trainer Willie Mullins confirmed his superstar was set to be aimed for the two-mile chase.
The brilliant seven-year-old has not raced since he lost his unbeaten record when seventh in the Queen Mother Champion Chase at the Cheltenham Festival in March – although later it was revealed he had a small fracture to his pelvis.
Now fully fit, Douvan is set to line-up for the Tingle Creek, as Mullins confirmed: “I imagine the Tingle Creek will be our primary target.
“I’d love to see him jumping those Sandown fences.”
Bookmakers are now taking no chances and BoyleSports make him 10/11 to win on December 9th.
The move on Douvan sees stablemate Un de Sceaux drift from 4/1 to 6/1 amid fears the 2016 Tingle Creek winner will instead be sent to run at Cork in the Hilly Way Chase.
The Colin Tizzard-trained Fox Norton remains Douvan’s nearest rival in the market despite drifting slightly to 2/1 from 15/8.
Aoife Heffron, PR Executive for BoyleSports commented: “Punters seem to be confident that the Tingle Creek at Sandown is the destination for Douvan and the support has seen the Willie Mullins star cut into odds-on at 10/11 from 11/10.
“Last year’s Tingle Creek winner Un de Sceaux is now out to 6/1 to go in again at Sandown, but many punters will be looking to the 2/1 Fox Norton to be the one to put it up to Douvan on the day.”
