Eden Hazard remains on course for Real

After confirming the return of Zinedine Zidane, Florentino Perez quipped that he would happily take Paris Saint Germain duo Kylian Mbappe and Neymar – but Chelsea star Eden Hazard remains their top summer target.

Mbappe and Neymar have been constantly linked with moves to the Spanish capital, but PSG have insisted they are not available and both players have insisted that they won’t be leaving this summer.

But that has not stopped speculation and Perez was asked about PSG’s star duo yet again.

Perez said: “Zidane is French, so with Mbappe he could do something, no? Now what we need to do is finish the season well and prepare for next year.”

Then asked about Neymar or Mbappe, Perez said: “I’d take them both.”

However, the interest in Hazard remains for Perez, and the fact Zidane and the Belgian have a huge mutual respect – something they have spoken about – only seems to confirm the likelihood of a deal this summer.

Hazard has refused to sign a new contract at Chelsea, as he looks to push through a move to Madrid. Chelsea are ready to sell this summer as they won’t allow him to leave for nothing the following summer.

Hazard is now odds-on to become Zidane’s first signing and to be starting next season in the white of Real.

Betway’s Alan Alger said: “Not many saw Zinedine Zidane going back to Real Madrid but, with the Frenchman back in the hotseat, he’ll be on the hunt for players to beef up his faltering side.

“Zidane is a known admirer of Eden Hazard and he looks almost certain to make a move for the Belgian this summer, with it just 4/7 that he makes the Chelsea forward his first summer signing.

“Hazard has been angling for a move to the Bernabeu for a while now and it looks as if he’s going to get it, with a move to Madrid now 4/9 to happen before the start of next season.”
