Enable on course for Eclipse

Enable will begin her 2019 campaign in the Coral Eclipse at Sandown on Saturday and she is firm favourite to open with victory.

The brilliant five-year old filly heads into 2019 looking to become the first horse in history to win the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe three times in-a-row.

She has not run since last November when she took the Breeders’ Cup Turf, but she will return to action at Sandown this weekend.

Trainer John Gosden commented: “She’s in good form. She worked under Frankie [Dettori] on the round gallop and I was very happy with it. The plan is to go for the Eclipse and we couldn’t be happier with her.”

Gosden added: “It’s her first run back and you know the main target is on the first Sunday in October [Arc].

“We’ll try and build to that but we’re happy with her. She’s showing her enjoyment in training and her eagerness. Her exuberant nature is back and she has slimmed down a bit. I couldn’t be more happy with her work on Saturday.”

Enable is evens (from 5/4) favourite with the sponsor for Saturday’s Coral-Eclipse, following further support for the dual-Arc winner.

Fellow distaffer Magical is 9/2 second favourite, ahead of Regal Reality at 5/1, and Circus Maximus at 6/1.

“Enable proved she could win off a long layoff when taking last year’s September Stakes on her first start since her 2017 Arc victory, so far from being put off by her absence from the track since her Breeders’ Cup win last autumn, punters are happy to put their faith in Frankie Dettori’s mount, and are backing her for the Coral-Eclipse to the exclusion of her rivals right now,” said Coral’s David Stevens.
