England look at Leon Bailey

England are ready to offer Leon Bailey, one of the most wanted players in European football, the chance of going to the World Cup finals.

The Football Association have been made aware that Jamaican-born Bailey, who has never played for his homeland at senior level, qualifies to play for England through his grand-parents who hold British passports.

I understand Bailey is known to be taking the interest very seriously, and sources close to his team have told us it would be ‘hard for him to turn down’ the chance to play for the Three Lions – especially at a World Cup.

A host of current England squad have Jamaica links – including Kingston-born Raheem Sterling, who coincidentally is a close friend of Bailey and who has no doubt confirmed to him the positives of playing for England.

Bookmakers are now slashed the prices on him to make the plane to Russia with Gareth Southgate’s squad.

BetVictor’s Head of ante post Football Michael Triffitt said: “Bayer Leverkusen winger Leon Bailey has been introduced and it’s not unusual to see a late surprise inclusion so could Bailey be the man this time around.”

And it could be a dramatic summer for Bailey – who has Arsenal, Tottenham, Chelsea and Manchester United all battling to land him.
