England play their final game before naming their squad for the World Cup finals on Tuesday as they host Italy at Wembley.

Gareth Southgate’s side claimed a good win in Amsterdam last week and they continue their preparations for Russia with a clash against the Azzurri.

Southgate is happy with how things have gone and is looking forward to testing his side against Italy.

“We’d picked specific players in the squad, from the goalkeeper right the way through the team, to do that and they played with a real confidence and enjoyed the ball,” he said.

“Competition for places helps performances and we’ve got that pretty much in every position. Now we have to look at different systems to allow players to play certain roles. We need to look at something a little bit different maybe on Tuesday to see as many of the players in different roles before we name the squad [for the World Cup.”

Alex McLeish faces his second game back in charge of Scotland as they face Hungary in Budapest, looking to bounce back from defeat to Costa Rica.

“We want to try to get a good result with a good performance,” said McLeish.
