England’s odds to win the Ashes have been cut following their World Cup success.
England become cricket world champions for the first time in history after beating New Zealand at Lord’s in a dramatic finale which saw the contest go down to the last ball of a super over.
“I’ve said incredible 50 times since lifting the trophy,” said captain Eoin Morgan.
“The planning, hard work, dedication, commitment and the little bit of luck really did get us over the line.”
Attention will now turn to the Ashes, which begin at the start of next month and England are odds-on at 3/4 to re-take the urn.
bet365’s Steve Freeth said: “England, who touched 10/1 In-Play, have finally got their hands on the World Cup and the tense finish was the icing on the cake on an incredible day of sport.”
