Eriksen seeking move and Spurs can’t stop him

Tottenham Hotspur are all but resigned to losing star midfielder Christian Eriksen, who is free to sign a pre-contract with another club in January.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino insists that Eriksen has given no indication that he is unhappy at the club, over than the fact the Dane will not sign a new deal.

Eriken is out-of-contract at the end of the season, meaning a pre-contract could be signed in January and it is understood the 27-year-old does have a number of clubs looking at his situation.

“He has always been happy here. Of course, everyone has their aims and challenges but I told you before the Arsenal game that he was in the right mind. That’s why I selected him,” he said.

“He is such an important player for us and one we appreciate a lot. He is happy and if he can play, he will. All the decisions will be made on performances.”

Tottenham had hoped Eriksen would sign a new deal with a release clause, meaning he could leave next summer but Spurs would get money for the deal – but that now appears unlikely.

Those close to Eriksen believe that he will not be short of offers come the New Year, with a move to Spain looking the most likely option with Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid all strongly linked – although the likes of Juventus, Inter Milan, AC Milan and Paris Saint Germain are also said to be looking at the situation.

Real Madrid are currently firm favourites to land him and BetVictor make him 5/1 to move to the Santiago Bernabeu.
