Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s early goal gave Manchester United a 1-0 win over St Etienne, which meant a 4-0 aggregate win for the Europa League favourites.

Jose Mourinho’s side were already favourites to win the European crown, but they are now just 11/4 – cut from 3/1 – following their latest success.

Mkhitaryan grabbed the only goal just 17-minutes in when he just touched home Juan Mata’s cross but his night ended not long after as he was forced off with an injury.

United managed to hold on, but hat was with ten-men as Eric Bailly picked up two yellow cards in three minutes around the hour mark.

Michael Carrick also picked up an injury on the night, and now both he and Mkhitaryan are major doubts for the EFL Cup final on Sunday at Wembley.

“I don’t say definite but with a hamstring and a calf three days is not much time,” he said of the pair when asked if they would be available to face Southampton.
