Everton close on Gylfi Sigurdsson deal

Everton are closing on a deal for Swansea City star Gylfii Sigurdsson, with the Welsh club ready to sanction the move as long as their price tag is met.

Sources close to the deal say Everton will pay over £30milllion for the Icelandic goalscoring midfielder, but Swansea want nearer £50million – and The Toffees are willing to do a deal which would eventually be worth that, with add-ons.

The 27-year-old has become one of the outstanding attacking midfielder’s in the Premier League and Ronald Koeman is edging close to adding him to his raft of summer captures.

I understand that Sigurdsson has made it clear to the Swansea hierarchy that he is ready to leave the Liberty Stadium after playing a huge part in keeping them in the top-flight last season.

Leicester are also interested in the player, but again the player has his eyes firmly set on a move to Merseyside.

Koeman has already brought in more than half-a-dozen players this summer at a cost of over £100million with Jordan Pickford, Davy Klaassen, Michael Keane, Sandro Ramirez and Wayne Rooney all coming in.

Now Sigurdsson is closing on a move after Swansea agreed terms with Everton.

Bookmakers are convinced the deal is going through – he is 4/11 to be with Everton next season according to SkyBet with him being 11/4 to still be with Swansea.
