Everton trying for Marco Silva

Everton have made a move to try and tempt Watford boss Marco Silva to Goodison Park.

The Toffees have turned their attention to the Portuguese tactician after issues with deals for other candidates Sam Allardyce and Sean Dyche.

A deal for Allardyce could not be agreed as they only wanted to give the former England, Bolton and Sunderland boss a deal until the end of the season – whilst he would only consider a two-and-half year deal.

Burnley boss Dyche was and is on their radar, but I understand that the club’s hierarchy was, and remains, split on whether he was the right man for the role.

Whilst the option of keeping interim boss David Unsworth remains a viable option, Everton are looking to other avenues and their current main area of interest is Silva.

Silva only joined Watford in the summer following his hugely impressive spell with Hull City – who he only just managed to keep in the league.

Now just months into his tenure at Vicarage Road, he could be given the chance to move again – but Watford are ready to put up a fight.

Everton are hoping that Silva’s head has been sufficiently turned and he could tempted to make the move to Merseyside.

Bookmakers have certainly reacted by making Marco Silva the new favourite for the role, ahead of Unswoth, Dyche and Allardyce.

BetVictor’s Head of ante post Football Michael Triffitt commented: “Plenty of rumours that Watford manager Marco Silva is on his way North to Everton and he is now our 2/1 favourite.

“Current caretaker David Unsworth had been popular following their 3-2 won over the Hornets recently but after been odds on has eased to 5/2.

“Burnley manager Sean Dyche has been linked from the start but is now 6/1 and its 14/1 bar those candidates.”
