Turkish giants Fenerbahce are ready to beat any offer on the table to lure Jack Wilshere to Istanbul.
Fener are supplying new head coach Philip Cocu with a sizeable budget, and he wants to throw some of that at a wage packet for Wilshere.
Wilshere was asked to take a wage reduction to stay at Arsenal, which he was prepared to do, from his £120,000-a-week – but now he is set to be offered nearly double his Gunners salary.
26-year-old Wilshere is now understood to be locked in talks with Fener – who are confident they can persuade the England international to make the move.
Wilshere does have other options abroad, with clubs in Italy and Spain keen, whilst the likes of Everton, West Ham, Crystal Palace, Fulham and Wolves have all spoken to him.
Now sources believe that a Fener deal is ‘a real possibility’ and could be done over the weekend .
Bookmakers have reacted and have slashed the odds on Fenerbahce landing him, and PaddyPower make them 3/10 – which is a probability of over 75%.
Spokesman Paddy Power said: “We’re now massively odds-on that Jack Wilshere joins Fenerbahce.
“I know he’s been called a bit of a turkey before, but I don’t know if that’s what the critics meant, Jack.”
