Froome backed to become greatest ever

Chris Froome claimed his fourth Tour De France victory on Sunday and he is already a short-price favourite to make is five next year.

The British cycling superstar rode into Paris on Sunday with the yellow jersey on his back for the fourth time, and he is now within one of joining the leading Tour De France winners of all time.

With the seven wins of drug cheat Lance Armstrong expunged from the record books, the leading winners of the tour are Jacques Anquetil, Bernard Hinault, Eddy Merckx and Miguel Indurain and Froome can level that next year with victory again.

He is priced at 6/5 already with Coral to secure that win and is just 5/2 for another win which would take him to six and make him the greatest of all time.

“Froome has already opened up as the favourite to retain his title next year, while his odds have been slashed to break the record for the most wins in the event,” said Coral’s John Hill.
