Garcia aims for his favourite major, The Open

Sergio Garcia admits that he is now targeting The Open after clinching The Masters at the weekend.

The Spanish ace captured his first major on Sunday when he won The Masters and now he is amongst the favourites for the next three Majors – the Open, the US PGA and the US Open – but if you think he will do this, it is a hefty 500/1.

Garcia admits that his main aim now is winning the Open – which is his favourite major. He is 16/1 to win at Royal Birkdale.

“Now I’m aiming for the British Open,” he said.

“My favourite tournament is the Open, but Augusta also seduces me.

“It’s nice to be able to wear [the green jacket] and all that comes with it.

“The Masters is like the Champions League, but the British Open is like the Champions Champions League.”

“The Masters is like the Champions League, but the British Open is like the Champions Champions League.”

It is 1/10 that Garcia’s only major triumph of the year is The Masters.

Garcia to win exactly two majors is priced at 9/2 with exactly three majors in 2017 for the Spaniard priced at 33/1.

Liam Glynn, BoyleSports spokesperson said: “Sergio Garcia landed his first major title at his 74th attempt and as a result the Spaniard is priced at 500/1 to complete the majors clean sweep in 2017.”
