World Cup favourites Germany have been cut further after they claimed the Confederations Cup.
A largely Under-21 side for the Germans proved too good for everyone in Russia, as they beat Chile 1-0 in the final on Sunday evening.
“I am immensely proud of this team, we have only been together for three-and-a-half weeks,” said German boss Joachim Low.
“You could feel something was happening in training, we came together and it’s a really deserved win.”
Such was the impressive nature of Germany’s win – that their odds on lifting silverware in 12-months time in Russia, at the World Cup finals – have been cut.
They are now 11/2 from 6/1 to reclaim the World Cup next summer.
BetVictor’s Head of antepost Football Michael Triffitt said: “Germany ran out narrow 1-0 winners over Chile in the final of the Confederations Cup this evening.
“They are 11/2 from 6/1 to retain their World Cup crown in Russia next summer. Beaten finalists Chile are 25/1 and both countries will feel confident of strong performances next year.
