Glorious Goodwood – Day Four Preview

Day Four of Glorious Goodwood promises to be as action-packed as the opening three days, kicking off with the Glorious Stakes.

Frontiersman is the one to beat based upon his strong runner-up performances in his last two runs at Epsom and Newmarket. The ground is a bit of a question mark as I suspect he might prefer a sounder surface, but I think he might still be good enough to win. Second Step has to be respected as the only course and distance winner in the line-up, and for each-way punters I could easily see Lord Yeats outrun his 8/1 odds given he has won on soft ground and is in good form.

The second race is the Group 3 Bonhams Thoroughbred Stakes and two enter the equation.

Britannia winner Bless Him is heading the right way and could go close but the ground is a doubt. Beat The Bank is the one who gets the vote after a Listed win on the July course. Beat The Bank finished strongly, won by three lengths and has a big shout.

Race 4 at 3.35pm is the Group 2 King George Stakes. Marsha is a top animal but soft ground may not be ideal. Battash is in top form but again slow ground isn’t his game. Take Cover is another who would prefer quicker although you have to respect his record at Goodwood. Profitable is the selection. He has won a Group 1 on soft ground and ran a big one in the King’s Stand last time at Royal Ascot, where he was ahead of Marsha. Best of luck with your bets.
