Haye and Bellew close on rematch

David Haye has revealed that terms have been agreed over a rematch Tony Bellew with a December clash now looking likely to be confirmed.

The British pair first fought in a hugely hyped heavyweight clash in March at London’s O2 Arena, with Haye being defeated in the 11th round – although he suffered an Achilles injury early in the fight.

Many believe that a fully fit Haye would have prevailed despite Bellew’s win – which is why there have been calls for a rematch between the two.

36-year-old Haye has now revealed via social media that a deal is close.

“It’s taken months of negotiating but teams have finally agreed ALL terms for #HayeBellew2,” Haye said.

“Will Bellew put pen to paper?!#RevengeOrRepeat”

Bellew’s promoter Eddie Hearn has confirmed that a deal is close and could be confirmed this week

“It is a deal we are happy with and we will sit down with Tony Bellew this week, we are talking about other fights but I believe this is the fight everyone wants,” said Hearn.

“This is a fight I want to see, we want to see number two and we firmly believe he will win again.”

Bookmakers are already making Haye favourite for the rematch which is reportedly set to take place on December 17th.

Betsafe make him 2/5 Haye to win, 11/5 Bellew and 29/1 the draw.
