Higuain backed for Chelsea switch

Gonzalo Higuain has been made odds-on to join Chelsea this month.

Chelsea are looking to bring in a new front-man with Alvaro Morata looking set to leave the club.

Maurizio Sarri’s is known to be keen on being reunited with the Argentine, who he worked with at Napoli – but AC Milan don’t appear happy to strike a deal.

Milan coach Gennaro Gattuso has said: “At this moment, I have to repeat the same words: there are many rumours, but Higuain is training well, working with everyone just fine and is at our disposal.

“He has to decide what to do, how to resolve this issue, but right now he is training with great professionalism. We’ll see.

“I want to reiterate that Higuain has never told me he wants to leave. I am waiting for that.”

Despite the strong links with Bournemouth’s Callum Wilson, Bookmakers believe a deal with Higuain is looking likely.

Higuain is now as short as 1/5 with Coral to move to Chelsea in the January transfer window.

“The betting suggests it is looking increasingly likely that Gonzalo Higuain will make the switch to Chelsea in this transfer window as the Argentina international is now long odds-on to be at the Premier League club at the end of this month,” said Coral’s John Hill.

And Coral also make Bournemouth 2/1 to land Wilson.

“There could be as many as three London clubs chasing Callum Wilson this month which may prompt a bidding war for the Bournemouth man. Our betting suggests Chelsea are leading the race to sign the striker, however, Spurs have had their odds slashed following the injury to Harry Kane,” added Hill.
