Higuain odds on for Chelsea switch

Gonzalo Higuain odds on a move to Chelsea have been slashed after reports in Italy suggested he was on his way to Stamford Bridge.

With Cristiano Ronaldo sealing a £100million switch to Juventus – the Italian giants are set to jettison some of their other big names and one of those who looks set to be first out of the door is Higuain.

Incoming Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri is understood to a big admirer, having managed him at Napoli before his switch to Juve.

Former England boss Fabio Capello revealed on Italian television that he believes Higuain is Chelsea-bound.

Capello told Sky in Italy: “I think Higuain will leave and I think he’s heading towards Chelsea, where Maurizio Sarri is waiting with open arms.”

Bookmakers have now made Higuain odds-on to make the move.

Betway’s Alan Alger said: “With Maurizio Sarri’s appointment as the new Chelsea manager seemingly imminent, we’ve seen an interesting move on Gonzalo Higuain joining him, with the Juventus man now just 8/11 to move to Chelsea.

“The pair worked together at Napoli and with Alvaro Morata struggling in his debut season at Stamford Bridge, it appears Higuain is the man Sarri wants to lead his new club’s attack.

“The Argentinian striker has scored over 50 goals for Juventus and is 11/10 to stay in Turin, which looks the only other alternative with Inter Milan next in the betting at 14/1.”
