Howe reiterates Wilson stance – but admits it is not his call

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe maintains that he would not sell star striker Callum Wilson at any price.

The 26-year-old has been courted by Chelsea, who are looking for a new forward – and he is one of the names on their list, along with Gonzalo Higuain and Edinson Cavani.

Chelsea are ready to spend big and are willing to make him the most expensive English player of all time, going over £50million.

And whilst the talk continues, Howe insists he would not sell – but also admits it is not his choice as manager.

“I’ve been told about the speculation, it’s not something I seek to read,” he said.

“It’s a waste of time for me to do so. It’s business as normal, Callum has been bright and bubbly this week so no problems there.

“In my opinion, and it’s just my opinion, I wouldn’t sell at any price but I’m the manager of the team trying to create the best team that I can.

“We desperately want to take the team forward and to do that we have got to keep our best players.

“He (Wilson) is a very important member of the team. He has unique attributes that really complement what we do here.

“He’s been a really good goal scorer for us this season, that’s the hardest things to do in the sport so he value him really highly.”

Bookmakers still believe there is a big chance of a move, and Chelsea are just 6/5 to land the England man this month.
