Bookmakers have slashed Liverpool into 6/1 to go the Premier League season unbeaten and Reds defender Dejan Lovren agrees.
Only two top-flight sides in English football history have gone unbeaten – Preston in 1889 and Arsenal more recently in 2004.
Manchester City had been backed both last season and this, but they failed – now Jurgen Klopp’s men are just 6/1 to join Preston and Arsenal in becoming Invincibles.
And Croatian defender Lovren sees no reason to believe they can’t do it.
“Hopefully we can be unbeaten until the end of the season,” said Lovren. “That is why we came to Liverpool.
“Arsenal did it before so why not? “Of course it will be a challenge but this is what we want.”
BoyleSports has now slashed their odds to 6/1 to continue their unbeaten streak until the end of the season – although Manchester City remain favourites to win the title at 2/5 with Liverpool at 9/4 to win their first title since 1990.
Aoife Heffron, Spokesperson for BoyleSports commented: “The Premier League is shaping up to be a two-horse race as Liverpool remain top of the table for a second weekend running following an impressive 3-1 defeat of Man United on Sunday.
“Not only have Liverpool began to close in on City in the Outright as they shorten to 9/4, but their odds to remain unbeaten have been halved in a week, having been 12/1 before last weekend’s table domination and now available at 6/1.”
