Jermain Defoe backed to find form with Cherries

Jermain Defoe has completed his move to Bournemouth and Bookmakers are backing the veteran England star to be a success on the South Coast.

The 34-year-old has agreed a three-year deal to return to the club he starred for earlier in his career – when he spent a season on-loan with The Cherries.

Defoe scored 15 goals last term for a second successive season, but if you think he can improve and top-score in the top-flight and take the Golden Boot, then he is 66/1 with bet365.

They also make him just 2/1 to make the England World Cup squad.

bet365’s Steve Freeth said: “Defoe is still as fit as a fiddle, despite his advancing years, and with the way Bournemouth play, many may fancy him to hit the ground running.”

Bookmakers also believe he will be hitting double figures for Bournemouth and BoyleSports make him just 10/11.

Leon Blanche, Head of Communications for BoyleSports said: “Punters are certainly expecting goals from Defoe and we are already seeing money for him to score against Spurs at 13/8 and West Ham at 6/5 in the Premier League.

“If he stays fit and keeps banging the goals in, surely Southgate will include him in the squad for Russia.”
