John Terry odds-on to hang up his boots

John Terry is rated odds-on to bring the curtain down his glittering career at the end of the season.

The 37-year-old left his beloved Chelsea in the summer, and signed for Championship Aston Villa – as he could not bring himself to play against his former club.

Now with Villa looking for promotion, their boss Steve Bruce is desperate to keep him playing for at least one more season, whether they stay up or not.

Reports had suggested that he had made up his mind, and sources close to him have told me that no decision has been made but they admitted a coaching role at Chelsea was the most likely scenario.

And Bookmakers do not see Terry prolonging his playing career and he is 4/6 to retire with Betway and 11/10 to sign a new deal with Villa.

Betway’s Alan Alger, said: “With a 20-year career behind him, as well as the best of his playing days, we go 4/6 for John Terry to put an end to his days on the pitch before the next season rolls around, and 11/10 for him to stick it out with Aston Villa.

“The defender finally said goodbye to Chelsea last year and it’s a long-shot 12/1 for him to head back to the Bridge, but he could stave off those retirement blues with a stint in the MLS next at 5/2.”
