John Terry odds-on to re-join Aston Villa

Aston Villa are considering bringing back John Terry to the club.

The former Chelsea and England star spent last season at Villa Park, before departing in the summer due to financial issues.

Since Terry left, Villa are under the control of new chiefs Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens, who are looking to bring in further new faces despite the transfer window being closed.

Championship clubs can still bring in free transfers meaning 37-year-old Terry is an option for Villa, and boss Steve Bruce is keen on bringing him back.

Terry has posted on social media that he is considering his options as a number of clubs – including Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon, are also keen.

Terry is now odds-on with Bookmakers to move back to Villa Park, and Betway make him 8/11 to make the move.

Betway’s Alan Alger said: “The transfer window may well be shut but John Terry is officially unemployed and still up for grabs. He almost clinched promotion in his first and only season with Aston Villa, and odds of 8/11 suggest Steve Bruce is working to get the ex-England skipper back in for another stint.

“It’s 6/5 for Terry to remain out of contract at the end of this month, while Sporting Lisbon have cropped up as the frontrunners outside of the UK and are priced at 14/1.”
